University DC July - Aug 2019
Currently on display at Southern Area Aquatics

After being offered the Pod Space at Visarts MD I upped my game. The 55M window inspired me to go large - 35 Billion+ was created out of plastic lids collected by over 120 people locally plus schools, gyms, cafes and restaurants. The number represents the minimum amount of single use plastic bottle used yearly in USA. When I started this project the number was 35 Billion, now its 50 Billion according to banthebottle, Forbes, earthday.org. I added the ‘+’ sign to show that whatever the number is its huge and unsustainable. This piece has been shown at the Katzen Gallery, American University DC July - Aug 2019, and is presently on display at  Southern Area Aquatics and recreation complex PG County MD.

Many thanks to the great local community who collected lids for months (to this day I still have the occasional bag of lids on my deck), who spurred me on with their surprised enlightenment of being involved with and learning from this project, and finally came to help me over a three week period assemble the lids to the numbers with painstaking and endless effort. It really takes a village.
